Future Energy Storage & System Integration Alliance (FESSIA)
Liming Qiao is the CEO and Founder of the Future Energy Storage and System Integration Alliance (FESSIA), a multi-stakeholder platform bringing together the energy storage and renewable energy industries to engage with governments and utilities. FESSIA is an advocacy group working to address the missing pieces of the energy transition: grid flexibility and system integration.
FESSIA’s mission is focused on ASEAN—one of the most dynamic energy markets in the world. Its goal is to shape a vision for the role of energy storage in future energy systems and to develop concrete Route to Market policy frameworks to make this vision achievable. The organization was inaugurated in 2025 with the support of the Climate Breakthrough Award, one of the most prestigious awards in the climate space, backed by the global philanthropic community.
Liming is the 2025 Climate Breakthrough Awardee, and through FESSIA she aims to ensure that storage, flexibility, and integration are no longer overlooked in the global clean energy transition.
Previously, Liming served as Chief Strategy Officer–Asia and Head of Asia at the Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC). She worked in GWEC since 2008 in various leadership roles focused on policy and Asia-related issues. She created and led GWEC Asia, engaging major industry and institutional stakeholders to drive policy advancement for wind energy development across the region. Liming also pioneered GWEC’s entry into new Asian wind markets—including Mongolia, Vietnam, Thailand, and Taiwan—and worked closely with governments and industry partners to strengthen policy frameworks in China and beyond.
With a career in climate and energy policy dating back to 2003, Liming has deep experience in renewable energy and international climate processes. Before joining GWEC, she worked with international organizations on a range of climate-related programs.
